    Chris,

Since you are the resident expert, I'm hoping you can help
    me.

I had to re-install Media Player 9 in my XP Home system.
After the install, Media Player will not play .wav or .mpg
files anymore. It will play .mp3, .avi, .wma etc.. files
fine but not wav or mpg. Also, the basic Sound Recorder
program built into Windows will play the .wav files fine.

I tried re-installing MP9 again but didn't work and there
is no place to uninstall it in the Remove Programs window.
Also, the restore points are gone from prior to install.
I've already downloaded the codecs from Microsoft and have
the Divx codec installed. The Media Player
says 'connecting' when it tries to play a wav or mpg file
and then just reads 'stopping' and doesn't play anything.

    Help is much appreciated.
