Under IE6, the option existed to simply clear the temporary internet files,
allowing cookies containing login information, etc. to be retained. In IE7,
the only option I can locate appears to want to clear temporary internet
files and ALL cookies. I reviewed the help files and and previous discussion
group questions, but can't seem to find any further information. Am I
    missing something? Thanks!

    Hi,
If you delete the Temporary Internet Files from Internet Options> General>
Browsing History> Delete> (next screen) Delete files, you will only delete
    the cached files, not cookies.

    Hope this helps,

in IE6, it was possible to delete cookie by cookie (select / right click /
    delete)
in IE7, if you follow "Tools/Internet Options/general" then
"History/parameters/files", then select a cookie and "right click / delete",
the cookie, it is NOT deleted.
BTW, I do not find the file name specified in the header of this panel in my
    PC :
    in my case :
    c:\Documents and Settings\HP_Propriétaire\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
    Files
