    Hello:

How often does the DNS cache refresh on a windows XPP/Vista OS?

Is there a way to decrease the referesh interval if possible using a
    registry key or GPO?

    Advise Please.

    Thank you

The Maximum TTL for the DNS Client cache on XP is one day, the actual cache
time usually depends on the TTL of the record, reducing the maximum cache
time usually doesn't help a whole lot because the Client record gets the
same TTL as the Server. So reducing the client cache time only increases the
number of times it has to go back to the server, to get the same record with
    the same TTL.

That said, here is your article:

You asked for the Registry entries to reduce the TTL on the DNS Client cache
(Refresh time), this KB has those entries. For instance, if you want to
reduce the cached Ttl to 10 minutes. Use a MaxCacheTtl value of 600.
You can also set a different value for the Maximum Negative cache (Cached
answers of non-existent domain) set the MaxNegativeCacheTtl to 0, and the
DNS Client cache will not cache Negative responses. Although, if you query
the same DNS server again, if the non-existent domain may be still in its
    cache.
All values in these entries are in seconds.
