    I am using WSUS 3.0 sp1 server.
I have GPOs which assign client machines to WSUS groups. In one group of two
clients one of the clients (a W2k3 sp1 server machine) is no longer receiving
updates. I have run "wuauclt /detectnow" on the client in order to try to
force the update and troubleshoot but that doesn't work either. This client
was functioning properly at one point. The WindowsUpdate.log has the
    following pertinent error:

Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x8024400a

I have done the following (multiple times for some of the steps) without
leading to successful updating of the client:

    - Stop Automatic Updates service
    - Rename WindowsUpdate.log
    - Start the Automatic Updates service
    - Run wuauclt /detectnow

    - run regsvr32 MSXML3.DLL
    - Run wuauclt /detectnow

I have also deleted the troubled client from the WSUS console and ran
"gpupdate /force" and "wuauclt /detectnow" on the client but the machine has
been "rediscovered" by the WSUS server and isn't present in the console.

Besides the above steps I haven't found any possible solutions to this issue
and based on my research this issue is not rare but a solution appears to
    be rare.

Any ideas on how to solve my problem.

    Thanks
