    Hi all,
We've had a problem for some time here with web browsing. To go to a url,
for the browser to display the web page, clients often have to either refresh
the page or enter the url and hit enter 2x before it will load. If the client
does not do this, they get a standard network timeout message from ISA.
We're running SBS 2003 R2 Premium with ISA 2004 and have all XP Pro SP2
    clients.
I saw an earlier post about this issue titled: "Clients have to refresh web
    pages to see them"
    at
    http://groups.google.com/group/micr...5a13a852b29683e7?hl=en&lnk=gst&q=refresh+dns#

    this thread suggested:
running this from cmd on server: "dnscmd /Config /EnableEDnsProbes 0"
    then "ipconfig /flushdns"
    and restart

This has not resolved the issue.

Are there some other things I could try? I'll paste the ipconfig from the
    server below.
    Thanks,
    Ari

Also, since we're on Comcast cable with dynamic IP, I've set these DNS
    servers in the CIECW:
    Preferred DNS server: 68.87.66.196
    Alternate DNS server: 68.42.244.5

  2. Hi Doucettea,

Have you run the SBS best practices analyser - the link is in my signature
below. Resolve any issues the BPA discovers, things like task offloading,
    edns0, etc.

Is your comcast an xDSL connection, that requires a login (set up on your
router)? When you run the CEICW do you select full-time broadband connection
(not router with an IP address), and is your router set with any connection
time-out that would cause it to have to re-establish the connection?

Does your router log show any signs of frequently having to re-establish the
    connection?

You might also run the CEICW again, but this time don't enter *any* DNS
server IP's in the forwarders section. You'll need to acknowledge the
informational pop-up that tells you the server will use root hints.

I've run the SBS BPA. All issues are resolved except:
OWA, companyweb, monitoring, backup, rww sites not using .net 1.1.4322 (b/c
    using .net 2)
owa update for exchange server not installed (for vista compatibility)
    wsus 2.0 installed

The comcast connection is cable. I've always selected full-time broadband in
CEICW. Router is not set with a connection timeout. I've seen it update dns
about once a day. No dns servers set in router and dns timeout is 24 hrs.

I'll try re-running CEICW with no dns servers set.
