I have a legacy application that I have been using for years. I bought a new
Brother 7820N printer and when I try to print using a parallel cable the
printer has a message saying DATA REMAINING but doesn't print until I send a
second item to the printer. Is there a way to configure the Parallel port.
Going to the BIOS doesn't allow you to configure the LPT port beyond enable.

I'm surprised -- my BIOS has usually allowed to set choices like ECC, EPP,
    ECC/EPP or bidirectional

Maybe you can configure if you go to Control Panel / Printers folder, right
mouse click on the printer icon and select Properties. Check the Ports TAB.

I'm not in VISTA at the moment and don't have a parallel printer connection
either so I can't check for you.
