Connecting to media...for ever and ever and ever...

    Hi patrick,
    I used to "sort of" have this problem, except it was in reverse. MusicMatch
    would "connect to media forever and ever". I believe you are somewhat
    correct with the file associations thing. however, I do remember
    specifically that when I clicked on a media file DIRECTLY (such as on your
    desktop) MusicMatch would get all f'd up and confused. I have found that
    opening the media from WITHIN either WMP or MM works best. That way there
    are no conflicting file associations. WMP is notorious for hogging
    associations.

    This means that as part of the load process, WMP is contacting something on
    your system that freaks out and locks up. What that is, or what area its
    in, would be impossible to say from that data.

    may help you pin it down further, but you'd likely need someone looking at
    the box in a debugger to pin down a random-seeming error like that. There's
    something unique about your system configuration, and in this case that's
    not a positive. :\
