    Hello SG and Brink
From the way you two asked, I must have used the wrong one. I used
How to enable or disable the control panel in vista ". Come to think o
it, it's not the right one, but the closest one I can find
And Brink, I don't know when this happened. I have to trace backward
    one date at a time

You can try different a one in stages to fine tune which one it is. Yo
can always undo the last System Restore done if it does not help

    Hello Shawn
There is a problem . I had recently deleted most of the restore points
I have only 6 left on the list. By the way, I have kept the built-i
admin account for emergency. It has the control panel on start menu
    Will that help

    t-4-2,

How did you delete most, but not all Restore Points?
You cannot delete individual Restore Points, so that's why I'm asking.
Perhaps I'm reading your post wrong, but appears to me you are saying you
    deleted most, but keep six.
BTW, it would have been nice in your OP if you had explained what you did
and the site reference you went by so we didn't have to go off on a wild
goose chase to find out. :>)

    Hello Shawn,
Thank you very much. Sometimes the most obvious was bypassed. I hadn'
gone to properties>customize for a long time. For reason I'll Neve
know, control panel was dotted Don't Display this Item. There is a
    alien using my laptop !
I got it back. Thanks again

    Hello SG
You are right. I didn't make my situation clear and precise. Not t
make an excuse for myself, and I don't deserve one, at the time of m
original posting I had been drinking. Mind was not clear
As to the restore points, it was like 6:30 am, getting ready to go t
work. While typing in a hurry, my English( which is my 3rd language
kind of went out of the window. "Most of " should have been "all of "
The 6 restore points, now 9, were the most recent ones at the time. M
apology for my carelessness. Sorry I had wasted you time for no goo
    reason

No No my friend, you didn't waste my time it's just if you had posted the
link that you tried it would have saved us all from extra searching and
asking several questions to find out what is was you did. Don't worry about
it as we all have those quick post where we forget to give enough details
    when in a hurry.
