    Hi
I've just bought an xbox 360 multimedia remote control and I would hope to
    control vista mce with it.
I 've an IR receiver but I don't have xbox 360 and media extender.
Is it possible to control mce without xbox 360 with the 360 multimedia
    remote control ?

thanks a lot if you have answer.

  2. The Xbox 360 remotes use the same IR protocol as Media Center PC remotes,
but use a separate remote ID/channel that the PC does not listen to by
default. If you have Media Center 2005, you can use the TweakMCE powertoy
to change the remote ID on the PC to match the ID of the Xbox 360 remote
(which I don't remember off the top of my head, but want to say is 8).

  4. The power toy I referenced is only for use on Media Center 2005 (Windows XP)
and not on Windows Vista. I believe that the IR channel the PC listens to
may be changed in Windows Vista via the registry (which is what TweakMCE
does under the covers on Media Center 2005), but I don't recall the specific
reg key off the top of my head.
