I have a 2000 domain. Just purchased a 2003 server. I would like to move
the DC duties from the 2000 to the 2003 server and demote toe 2000 to a file
server. What is the best way to accomplish this? Will I have trouble
joining the domain with the 2003 server?

    thanks!

  2. You should have no trouble joining the 2003 server to the domain. Upgrading
essentially involves making sure that the 2000 domain is functioning
properly and running adprep. For details, see this:

  3. You should also consider the fact that MS recommends TWO DC's minimum for
fault tolerance. Both should be global catalog holders and dns servers. I
would not dcpromo down the old server but keep it as a dc.
