Critical SQL Update KB829358 Fails

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by Michael Pomerleau, May 19, 2004.

  1. I can't get the critical SQL Server update KB829358 to
successfully complete the automatic updates install.

Starts with a MSInstaller 11706 error an installation
product for MS SQL Server Desktop Engine cannot be found.

Ends with MSInstaller 11729 information configuration
    failed.

    Any suggestions?

  2. Michael,

Is this SBS 2003 Std Edition or Premium Edition? If it's Premium Edition
have you upgraded your SharePoint instance (mssql$sharepoint) to full SQL
    Server?

Yes, it is the Premium Edition and I have upgraded your
SharePoint instance (mssql$sharepoint) to full SQL
Server. I also applied the previously recommended
critical SQL updates without a problem, but not through
auto-update...had to follow KB script and stop services.
