I upgraded to Media Player 10 and now anytime I touch a music file (burn,
play, etc,...) the "date modified" changes to that date. I don't want this
to change, I would like that date to stay as the date it was initially
downloaded. The earlier version of Media Player didn't do this and neither
    does Music Match.

    Woo. Top posting.

I see the same behavior. Have gone under tools->options and deselected
everything that would seem to indicate that media player will be modifying my
files and it still changes the modified date. My music is stored in a single
flat directory and the modified date is very useful to keep music associated
in time. Ie. songs that I heard on the radio and listened to during the same
period of time are near each other in the folder since it's sorted by date
modified. Except now media player is destroying that.

I realize that saying media player is destroying data is maybe a little
harsh, but it is. Prior to media player screwing this up, I could go to my
collection and say "what was that one song i used to listen to? I heard it
all the time on the radio when I heard this other song." Now I can't do that.

This is, of course, as viewed in explorer, not as viewed in media player.
