    Hello,

I've got a Windows 2003 Server and I'm using the NT Backup. I've scheduled the daily backup. Approx. twice a week the backup doesn't work and I get a System Event 10009 (DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer SERVER using any of the configured protocols).

When I first installed the Server, I named the server "SERVER". I've renamed the server later.

I found the following keys in the registry, which still have the entry SERVER

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Scheduling Agent/Oldname Reg_SZ SERVER

    and

    HKEY_USER/S-1-5-10/Software/Microsoft/ShellNoRoam/Default Reg_SZ SERVER

Does anybody know the reason, why the backup isn't working and why the
    event 10009 comes up?

    Thanks
    Maya

    Moin Moin,

Perhaps I have the answer, with me it functioned.

1.) I let the Backup start via scheduled task.
    This calls a script.
The user that the task to start, must be into the GPO the necessar
quite possess. Log on as aservice, Act as a part of the operatin
sytem, Load and unload device drivers, Restore files and directories
Manage auditing and security log ....

    GPO => Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Window
    settings\Security settings\Local Polices \User Rights Assignment\...

    With me it functioned then.

It has nothing to do witch DCOM

Sorry for the bad English, I work on it :)
