    All you have to do is open up media player and go to the
    options. There should be a tab there that lets you select
    which files media player should play by default. also
    uncheck the option in quicktime to reclaim file types on
    startup. if you can uncheck all the files except the
    quicktime files in the quicktime player as well, just to
    be sure.
