I have a Win2k3 R2 DFS system used for all of my offices to access their
local copies of the data drives. At one of the offices, if I try to look at
the properties of a folder in my DFS share it takes between 3-5 mins before
the properties box appears. If i do the same at any other office it appears
immediately. Likewise if I connect directly to the share on the server,
instead of going via dfs, it is instant.

    Can anyone help?

Have you used NetMon V3 at all? I would recommend putting a NetMon trace on
the host you are trying to view the properties from and see if you can find
    anything out of the ordinary.

    Hi Josh,

Yes I had a look with NetMon. I'm not familiar with using it so couldn't
examine the output properley. But did spot that the client computer attempts
to connect to the dfs servers in another site for some reason (the two sites
can't communicate directly with each other though so that would fail). This
happens even though dfs is set to exclude targets outside the client's site.
I can find no reason for this in the dfs config and dfsutil reports that the
target in the local site is the active one.
