Deleted Storage Folder

Discussion in 'Windows Live Mail' started by Jane Stafford, Oct 30, 2013.

  1. Win 7. Is there a way of bulk deleting all the items? It's a pain to flag
each one with Ctrl, then delete. Thanks.

    Hi, Jane.

Before we give you a disastrous suggestion that will delete lots of things
that you did NOT intend to delete...

WHAT kind of "items": Accounts? Emails? News posts? Contacts? Or
    something else?

One way that many users have regretted was to Remove and email Account -
which also removes ALL the subfolders for that account, including all the
messages. Many who did NOT intend to do that have learned the lesson too
    late. :>(

So please clarify exactly what you want to do.

Rather than describe the folder, give the name for it. You actually
have a folder named "Deleted Storage"? If so, are you using IMAP to
access an e-mail account and that's what the folder is named up on the
e-mail server? Or are you asking about the "Deleted items" folder? If
so, are you asking why right-clicking on that folder to show the context
menu and selecting 'Empty "Deleted items" folder' doesn't work for you?
Selecting one message in the listing pane, hitting Ctrl+A to select all
items there, and pressing the Del key doesn't work for you?

Ok, lets say I'm in Windows Live Mail. On the left, under my ISP name I have
Inbox, Sent items, Drafts, Junk mail and Deleted items.

In Deleted items, I have say 300 emails that I have deleted from my Inbox. I
would like to delete these deleted items to free up disk space.

My question was whether it is possible to delete all 300 in ONE HIT, rather
then flag each one individually with Ctrl, then delete? Thanks in
    anticipation.

Just right click on Deleted Items and then left click on Empty Deleted Items
    Folder.

    Hi, Jane.

OK! That's easy in WLM: Just select the Deleted items folder. A small "x"
should appear at the far right of the label. Click that "x" and say "Yes"
to the "Are you sure?" question. ;<)

It's even easier to empty the Junk mail folder. When we click the "x", it
doesn't even ask for confirmation. ;<)

If you have multiple email accounts, there is a separate Deleted Items
folder and a separate Junk Mail folder for each of them, as you probably
know. Empty them with 1 (or 2) click each.

You can tell WLM to empty the Deleted Items folder messages each time you
    close WLM.
Left click on the WLM icon at top left.
    Click on Options
    Click on Mail
    Click on Advanced
Click on Maintenance (at lower right)
Click a checkmark into the box before "Empty messages from the 'Deleted
    Items' folder on exit.
