Detecting Proxy Settings Every Time IE7 Opens?

Every time I open up the new beta of IE7, it says "Detecting Proxy Settings"
before opening my home page... normally, I would only get the "Detecting
Proxy Settings" message the first time connecting to a site after my cable
    modem resets.

Is this happening for everyone? What's the reason for this? IE7 was
already slower than IE6, and now it takes even longer for a page to load when
    opening IE.

  2. If you don't use a proxy server, click Tools | Internet Options | Connections
    | Lan Settings, and uncheck the "Automatically" box.

  3. We've hit a few problems here in the IE7 betas. The option should only be on
if it was on in IE6, and on a clean install, the option should automatically
turn itself off if a proxy isn't detected on first use.

Thank you. I had one of those coincidental things. HD crash and was
rebuilding, just got DSL at 3Mbps and dropped my Satellite and Installed
    Beta 3.

Wonder just where to go to figure what was slowing the show down. Unchecked
    the "automatically" and BINGO!

    Thanks.
