Device prop sheet + coinstaller under x64

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Drivers' started by Francois Champs, Feb 26, 2007.

  1. Dear All,
I've ported my driver to x64. It now works well with my old 32 bits
I'm now trying to implement my device property sheet dll and a co-installer
    Few questions about that:
    - Since the device manager is 64 bits (I guess), should both dlls above be
compiled in 64 too (I guess so...)?
    - If yes, what environment should I use to compile them? Is DDK 3790 enough?
Or should I use Server 2003 platform SDK? SP1? R2?
    Thank you for reading me!
    Have a nice day,

Yes the dll should be 64 bit binaries.
You should use released development kit. It doesn't matter whether you use
SDK or DDK to build usermode stuff. My suggestion would be to use Vista WDK.
If you don't have that then use Server 2003 SP1 kit.

  3. Thank you Eliyas for your answer.

I used the Server 2003 SP1 kit and my dlls work. Cool!!!!!

I had to fight with some unresolved external security_cookies and had to
link an add lib: bufferoverflowu.lib. Don't really understand that...

By the way I also manage to compile those dlls under VC6 (using /useenv)
although it is said in some various places that it is impossible... Because
all project settings (CL + LINK) are not compatible with the compiler used

Anyway, have a nice day all!!!!
