We have 1 server with numerous fileshares (18) and most are mapped through
drive letters. I am thinking of implementing DFS and just let all the
shares hang off of it as DFS links - and just have one mapped share - to the
root. IS this feasible on use of DFS? I ask because DFS is mainly for
Shares on DIFFERENT servers - what about consolidating shares from ONE
    server?

  2. MK,
You can use DFS for this purpose. The only thing is you will have no
redundancy of files. If this central FS goes down, all users will be impacted.

I already have the situation below, one server (A) with multiple shares.
Also mapped dfs\root on server (B) as r: for users. I am not concerned with
replication of files at this point. My problem is fault tolerance of the dfs
root and its links, when the root server (B) goes offline. Is there a way to
    provide this fault tolerance?
