Scenario: Large Remote office with File Server, redirected folders and
offline capabilities. Requirements to therefore move profiles to another
physical server. File Server will employ DFSR to replicate data back to
central site for centralised backup. The same is required for user profiles.

Problem: Each Remote office will have a domain controller, File Server and
SMS server. Is there a problem running DFSR on a domain controller that
anyone knows of. I cannot see any information about conflicts with FRS etc
but would appreciate any thoughts or documented resources. The Profiles could
be put on the SMS server but the likelyhood is that the DC will be utlised
far less normally than an SMS server.

  2. .. Is there a problem running DFSR on a domain controller that
Most of Microsoft's branch office scenarios that I've seen concerning R2
assume one DC in the branch office replicating specific folders back to a
    hub server.

We have it set up using servers in the branch office that are DCs. We
    replicate one specific folder.

    No problems.
