I am assuming that Norton should have been de-activated...
I can't imagine what else could have gone wrong.

Computer slowed down when I was clicking from page to
page while researching on the web. (i.e., not responding
    to the clicks.)
Computer disconnected me while on the web.
When I wanted to disconnect later, it would not accept
    the "disconnect" click.

The computer was also less responsive in bringing up
the "print" box and sending info to the printer.

At first I thought that this sluggishness was due to my
installation of Norton earlier in the week. However, Free
Cell was also acting up. What a blow!

The first time I tried to open free cell and select a
game, I tried to select the option of choosing a certain
number. It froze. ctrl alt del, end task.

I tried again. Now, instead of the options box, I just
gothe box saying "are you sure you want to exit this
game?" If I said no, it would freeze. With yes, it would

QUESTION: I would like to re-install the KB828750 without
the Norton on. I would also like to re-install the games.

Would I have to uninstall both first...and how?
I can't find where the games are, only the shortcut (via

Also, how to re-install an item from your windows update
history? (Since I am on a "new" computer onto which I had
installed my Win 98SE, I had to download many drivers,
    etc., including the games.)

It had been running like a charm till now. (Thinkpad 390e)
    It's almost 3 a.m., and I'm probably forgetting something
important, but I just can't deal with this anymore tonight.

Any help would be appreciated. C.

You can uninstall KB828750 from the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.
After you uninstall the update does the computer performance increase? Does
it still respond slow? What about the games? You can reinstall the update
by visiting Windows Update after you uninstall the update.

I'm glad the update is now working. I do have a couple questions:

What version of Norton are you running?
Do you have the real time scan process enabled?

    Any information will be helpful.

  4. Hi,

Could you please answer a few question to help us better understand what

Did you reinstall the update KB828750?
Did you disable Norton when you reinstalled?
After reinstalling the update did the performance issues return?

    Thank you
