DisKeeper 10.0 for x64

Discussion in 'Windows 64 Bit' started by Rick, Dec 6, 2005.

  1. To put in my two cents worth...

Diskeeper also charges a premium to defragment large drives - for no
apparent reason than they feel that they can get it from their customers.
We've had many workstation people who have purchased PerfectDisk/Workstation
for their workstations because Diskeeper folks wanted to sell them
Diskeeper/Server because they had large drives attached to their
workstation. NTFS is NTFS. It doesn't matter if you have a 10GB drive or a
6TB drive. The file system is the same :)

  2. Yes, the demographics of XP x64 users is clearly that of Early
Adopters/Influencers. Not a group you want to alienate if you can avoid it.

I've been met with the same error. even tried the server download. Both give
the error of this version of Windows is not supported.

So I ask. Those of you who do have DK10 running do you have the paid version
    or the Trial ver?

I wrote and requested what was at the time their Beta x64 edition, which
they sent, no charge, a few months ago. It worked flawlessly. I think it was
a "Server" edition for either XP Pro or Server 2003 (I can't find the CD
now, and am not using that system). Only real downside is the barrage of
emails I received for about 2 months there after, seeking to score the sale
    with me.

  7. DKC has decided to enable DK10 Professional to run on x64. I received an
email alert today. I am not sure when the right bits will be available for
download, but it may already be available in the trial.

  8. I just got an email alert that DKC has decided to enable DK10 Pro to run on
x64. I do not know if the bits are up, but test the trial.

  9. DKC no longer requires Premier Pro for XP Pro x64. This should be in effect
but try the DK10 Pro trial bits to see when the bits have changed.

  10. Give the trial a go. DKC has enabled 64-bit support for Pro. I am not sure
when the bits will reflect this.

I received this from Craig Jensen, and one from Neil Johnson who said he
would send me the link for the download as soon as it was available.

    Dear Rick,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It looks like we really
missed the boat on that one. We have corrected the matter, however,
and, thanks to your encouragement, we now have full support for 64-bit
Windows in Diskeeper 10 Professional. I will have our Customer Service
Manager, Neil Johnson, contact you to get you the 64-bit upgrade.

I appreciate your writing me about this.

    Best,
    Craig Jensen

No, it doesn't work on XP64 - no version of Diskeeper does. Their site will
    tell you that.

  15. Only the Home edition does not. All others do. I am running DK10 Pro
Premium on my x64 box now.

Well, it seems you are a day late and a dollar short. If you had read
the posts in this forum, you would have seen that DK changed their mind
and now includes x64 in their Pro version! I received the link to the
newest version on Thursday, December 15, 2005, and have already
installed it on my x64 system. It works fine and appears to have all
the features and functionality of the 32-bit version.

    Wake up, Rip Van Winkle!

    P.S.

The other error you made was not reading the information on their Web
site for the new Premier version!

It was introduced with x64 support from the beginning!

So, your arrogant statement is A.F.U. and grossly WRONG!!!

Here is the info from the website:

Diskeeper 10 Professional Edition is compatible with the following editions
    of Windows:
Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Tablet PC, Windows XP
Media Center, Windows XP Professional, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation (SP6),
    Windows 2000 Professional

Diskeeper 10 Professional Premier Edition is compatible with the following
    editions of Windows:
Windows XP Home, Windows XP Tablet PC, Windows XP Media Center, Windows XP
Professional, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation (SP6), Windows 2000 Professional

Diskeeper 10 Server Standard Edition is compatible with the following
    editions of Windows:
Windows XP Home, Windows XP Tablet PC, Windows XP Media Center, Windows XP
Professional, Windows XP Professional x64, Windows Server 2003 Web, Windows
Server 2003 Standard, Windows Server 2003 Standard x64, Windows Server 2003
Enterprise, Windows Server 2003 w/ Server Appliance Kit, Windows 2000
Professional, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2000
w/ Server Appliance Kit, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation (SP6), Windows NT 4.0
    Server (SP6), Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Server (SP6) .

Hmm - and may be quite a few dollars short for the server version. Was
contacted by Diskeeper to test a beta version which will install and work on
a "clean install" on Win XP64 bit Pro. Has yet to go into production. Sorry
get your ducks in a row.

  19. I am currently using DK 10 Professional Premier Edition for x64, NOT the
Server version, and it works flawlessly on my x64 machine.

Try going to the Premier page at the following link:

    http://www.diskeeper.com/diskeeper/home/premier.asp?pe=7&RId=1&SId=2&CId=13

In the box labeled OPERATING SYSTEM SUPPORT, it lists "Windows XP
Professional x64" as a supported system. And it has been there since
    day one!

And, like I stated before, I received the link for the x64 Pro version
on Thursday, December 15, 2005. I have downloaded DK 10 Pro and
installed it on x64 after deleting PerfectDisk!

MY ducks are perfectly lined up! You need to get yours in a row!!!

I have DK 10 Pro loaded on x64 and running!!!!
