My laptop, Fujitsu E4010, P4 XP + CDRW does not read CD.
I found that it is because secondary master is set to "DMA if available",
and that if it is set to "PIO", machine reads/writes CD.

Fujitsu's Sevice engineer says that I/O device of mainboard or chipset
may be out of order, and says that it requires lot of money to fix or replace.
I don't agree to his hardware defects for all the notebook functions are
    quite normal, and
found that there could be hardware compatibility problem, from Microsoft site,
    http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/IDE-DMA.mspx.

The above Microsoft page explained "...by implementing the _GTM and _STM
    methods"
Does anybody knows "the _GTM and _STM"?
    ....
System manufacturers can override this default behavior by implementing the
_GTM and _STM methods in the ACPI BIOS. Also, the user can enable DMA using
    the Device Manager.
    ....

Is there any possibility to recover "DMA if available", instead of "PIO"?
