    Hi Molder,

Thank you for posting in SBS newsgroup.

From the description, I understand the issue to be: you have received DNS
error 4000, 4001 and 4007 on your SBS. If I have misunderstood your
concerns, please do not hesitate to let me know.

As I know, the issue may be caused by DNS zone for the local domain being
missing. Also, please check if the Kerberos Key Distribution service is set
to "disabled". If so, please set the service to "automatic".

Please try the steps of the following KB article to see if it works:

305967 How to clear bad information in Active Directory-integrated DNS
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;305967

I have noticed you have 2 NICs and you only use one NIC, please try to
disable the other NIC and try to rerun CEICW to see how thing goes:

    1. On the SBS 2003 Server open the Server Management console. Go to
    Standard Management\To Do List.
    2. Click the "Connect to the Internet" link.
    3. Choose not to change the connection type and click Next. On the Firewall
page, select "Enable firewall" and click Next.
    4. On the "Services Configuration" page, select all the items and then
    click Next.
    5. On the "Web Services Configuration" page, make sure "Allow access to the
entire Web site from the Internet" is selected. If you select "Allow access
to only the following Web site services from the Internet", make sure the
web sites you want to publish are selected. Click Next.
    6. On the "Web Server Certificate" page, choose to create a new Web server
certificate and then type the public FQDN of SBS.
    7. Go through the remaining steps.
    8. If you have a router or hardware firewall, configure it to forward
inbound traffic on TCP port 80 and 443 to the SBS server's external
    address.

You can also refer to the following KB article:

825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
    2003
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763

Also please refer to the following KB article:

884499 Event ID 4000 is generated every five minutes on a DNS server that
    is running Windows 2000 Server
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;884499

If the issue still occurs, to narrow down the problem, would you please
help me confirm if there is any other DC on your SBS domain?

I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

    Crina Li (MSFT)

  3. there was an error in setting up the network part of the connection wizard.
i disabled upnp and the dhcp server from the router and tried it again, to no
prevail. i am goin to try to set up the server running from 2 nics,
hopefully this weekend, and see if that will fix the problem after i re-run
    the wizard.

as far as the bad dns in active directory, i didnt have any zones created,
and when i attempted to create one (as primary, to all dns servers) it said
to try for all domain controllers, so tried that and got the message, "can
not create one, invalid data". so i couldnt change the zone, but, i did do
the command prompt actions and got as far as AD users and computers deleting
zones, and wasnt sure if there were any. didnt see any thing other than the
default folders under my domain name.

Is it possible to have another domain controller and just not see it
anywhere under mmc? i looked in every place that it should be listed, i
promoted my server using cmd and instructions from another post. so i`m not
sure, but i do get hte messages about multiple domain controllers, when there
shouldnt be, so obviously there is, just hiding somewhere. possible that
plays any role in this problem?

    Hi Molder,

    Thanks for your update.

To narrow down the problem, would you please help me confirm the following
    information?

    1. Have you done any changes before the situation occurs?
    2. Is SBS a clean install server or upgraded from other OS?
    3. Do you have any other servers on your network?

Thanks for your taking time to help me collect the above information and I
look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,
