I have a DNS installed with a primary zone and I have a
forward lookup zone and a reverse lookup zone. I have a
Windows XP Client that successfully registers itself in
DNS and it creates an A record.

However, there's no coresponding PTR record in the reverse
lookup zone. I can create it manually and it works
because I can run nslookup but there should be a way to
    automatically create a PTR record.

I added the suffix to the client in TCP/IP -->Advanced--

By default DHCP performs the functions of registering DNS pointer record.
Check these options under your DHCP server.
