    Hallo all,

have a strange problem with DNS Server on a SBS 2003 Server.
Problem seems to have ben happening about 3/4 weeks, perhaps longer, I may
    not have noticed.

Basically, the resolving of "db.com" fails. Result is that IP is not passed
to clients needing it for a banking connection. (Deutsche Bank).

A restart of DNS Server service and cache flush of clients usually sort it
out - but I can find no reason why the original lookup fails.
DNS Server is set with no forwarder, all runs over root hint servers - as
    far as I can tell.
Have even set new ip for l.root-servers.net

Since users are not calling regarding other DNS fails and all clients use
the SBS box as only DNS server I think db.com is the only (known) issue.

Could anyone please help me resolve this?

  2. KenT,

With all due respect, you've posted this twic in the SBS newsgroup,
and got multiple, valuable responses for possible resolutions,
including one from myself. I did not see you reply to any of the
    responses.

For your convenience, most of the responses regarded checking to
insure all machines ONLY use the SBS server as their DNS address (and
not the router's IP or an ISP's DNS server, make sure your firewall
supports EDNS0 and is enabled, and simply use Forwarders.

I hope you are able to see the responses in the SBS newsgroup, as well
as this one in the DNS group.

Have you posted this anywhere else?

    Thank you,

    Ace

    Hi,

I have posted responses to all the answers. Actually copied the answer given
in social Technet. I always try to respond to any help as a matter of course
    - and - to provide more info to aid others looking for answers.
Have had major problems here in the groups. At times it shows, at other
times errors. My responses were properly sent and confirtmed, even hit the
"Inform me of responses". My resaponses have not posted, nor have I received
    notifications.
I see test postings from others too - and after trying to find what may be
wrong saw news that MS will actually be closing this soon - and that all will
then be done via the forums.

    Apologies.

  4. No need to apologize, Ken. All is good. I hope our assistance in the
    Technet Forum is helpful.
