Do I need to have windowsupdate process running in the background?

    Hello,

    I am trying to streamline my computer processes and get rid of
    unnecessary programs. I noticed that the windows update program is
    being stored in the temp directory. (I have autoupdate set to "no")
    But will deleting it make any difference to the computer's
    performance?
