Does ActiveSync needs MSOffice to convert pxl to xls (Excel files)

Discussion in 'ActiveSync' started by Alessandro Fragnani, Oct 3, 2006.

  1. Hi,

I'm using a Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003 installed. I don't have
MSOffice installed, but would like to work with Spreadsheet files in my PDA
an PC. I was intending to use OpenOffice to edit xls files in my PC. My
question is: Do I need MSOffice installed in my PC to transfer xls files
(PC) to my Pocket? Does ActiveSync have its own pxl/xls converter?

    Thanks

    Alessandro

  2. Activesync should open xls files directly... note, "advanced" features
may be stripped from the file when you do.

The other way round, pxl files created on the ppc need an activesync
computer or computer with a pxl file option to convert them so that they
can be opened on pc's, but there is a "save as" option in the ppc to
save them directly to xls files.
