Does Antivirus software work in Windows Live Mail?

    Hi.

I've been using Kaspersky for a few years now without fail. I don't think
the anti-spam and Virus are working With Windows Live. With Outlook, I would
get a popup that would scan email messages before it would download them. Is
    this feature now gone?

    Thanks

That would be a feature of Kaspersky; probably designed to work with some
Oulook specific APIs. So not so much "gone", as "not present".

I know of one program which indexes files (a Desktop search engine) which
    does not index WLMail files.

    That "feature" is Kaspersky's. not Outlook's or WLMail's. I don't know
about the anti-spam, but if any AV wasn't working, you would net a
notification that "Your system might be at risk".

As far as e-mail scanning, that is the last thing you want in WLMail, or
WinMail and OE for that matter.

Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant
layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving,
and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting
changes and has even been responsible for loss of messages. Your
up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For

Note that for some AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the
program and reinstall in Custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the
    option arises.
