We have a split DNs with internal hosts registering into an internal WIn2k3
DNS for Our outward facing hosts are in an external DNS also in

In the external dns we have pointing to a host record that
matches so that goes to our web site.
    SImple stuff.

We want to implement the same scheme for our internal DNS. We currently
have a host (A) record for that points to the IP for our web
server. However, it appears that each domain controller also registers an A
record as As these don't have the web site,
    usually returns an error.

Can you help me understand why thr DCs register A records, whether we need
it and if not, how to stop it?

Alternately, how can I accomplish the web thing for

  2. Read inline please.

Yes, they need it, this is how Domain Members access group Policies and
logon scripts located on DFS shares on all DCs at \\\SYSVOL and
Install IIS on all DCs and setup a website the redirects
to It will work just fine so long as all links in the
website are relative links or use Any links
that have will get redirected to
The redirection setting is on the Home Directory tab or the Web site
properties sheet, and also on the File tab of individual pages properties
    sheets in the IIS Manager.

    Use Outlook Express?... Get OE_Quotefix:
It will strip signature out and more
Keep a back up of your OE settings and folders
    with OEBackup:
