In our Forward Lookup Zones, I have the following entries...

OUR-Domain - only has the SOA and two NS records

our-domain.local - has the SOA, two NS and all the host records

OUR-HQ - only has the SOA and two NS records

I'm wondering if the "OUR-Domain" record is a leftover from when the
business upgraded from a 2000 to 2003 AD domain. We log on to workstations
and servers using OUR-Domain\username or [email protected] Could this
zone be deleted? If so could we still logon using the same context or would
we have to start using our-domain.local\username or
    ?

    I don't know what "OUR-HQ" is.....

  2. Make changes at your own risk,...but...

    You should have 2:

    _msdcs.our-domain.local
    our-domain.local

The other two are probably bad entries. They are not even true proper DNS
Zones,...they are missing the TLD (.com, .org, .net, .local, .loc, etc).
Now before someone says it,...yes it is possible to have "single word"
names,...but it is not a very good idea,..and no I don't have a link to the
articles that descibes all the bad things about "single word" Zone Names but
I know it is out there somewhere. :)

Interesting. I do have an _msdcs but it is a sub-folder under
our-domain.local. We also have sub-folders under our-domain.local for
_sites, _tcp, _udp, DomainDnsZones and ForestDnsZones. Is this not a good
    idea?
