As it states in title, every time I sync on new laptop, I get duplicate messages. I haven't reached a limit on these messages only when I receive a new mail it stops and moves on to the next one. Can someone please suggest me what to do?
    Thanks

    Hi, Rago.

    First question: Which WLM?

Since you posted using Forte Agent, and since you gave no clue in your
message, we can't guess if you are using WLM 2009 or WLM 2011 or the new WM
12... And we don't know if you are using WinXP, Win7 - or the new Win8 or
??? And are you using POP/SMTP email, or Hotmail or ??? Do you have a
single mail server, or have several mail accounts? Or are you asking about
    Usenet messages?

Please tell us your basic configuration so that we can help you.

    ---------------

The part of the affected email address "beyond the @" ONLY, will help.
    eg: @hotmail.com, @live.co.uk, @gmail.com etc

Also ensure that you do not have duplicate accounts set up for that
particular email address? Click on the none-descript down arrow in the top
left corner, then Options, then Email Accounts.

Hi, Rago - or are you Adameric?

    We're getting closer, it think. ;^}

I wasn't sure that Adameric and Rago were the same until I checked the
headers on your latest post, which shows that it came from ""Rago"
<>". But you are still using Agent to post
questions about WLM and that is still a source of confusion. Also, you said
you have only one account, but that post came via @hotmail.co.uk and you say
    your problem is with @btopenworld.com.

You want to "import them from and old WLM "? It's easy to overlook the
obvious typo ("and" for "an"), but which "old WLM"? Since its beta days as
"Windows Live Mail (desktop)" in 2006 to its latest version as "Windows Mail
2012" in Windows 8, it has gone through many changes. If you post a message
using your WLM, we can read the headers and determine exactly which version
you have, but we can't do that if you use Agent to post. You said "WLM2011,
on Windows 7" and that is a big clue, but even that leaves a few questions.
In my Sig below, you will see my version of WLM, including the build number:
Build 16.4.3503.0728. In WLM 2011, with the Ribbon GUI, you can find your
build number by licking the WLM icon (the name is in a ToolTip popup that
will appear if you hover your mouse over that blue bar in the upper left
corner), then click on About. That build number will cut out a lot of
back-and-forth questions about WHICH version of WLM we are talking about.
We need to know both which version you are importing FROM and which version
    TO.

We don't have an answer for you yet, but we're making progress. ;<)

Icouldn't import the account as the message wouldn't actually sync so i hadto copy and paste the emails into WLM. what else would you like to know tosort this? I realized when the emails duplicate i have 'Error' in the bottom right hand corner, but from i can tell, all the settings were the same from my previous WLM. I dont remember which version it was but I can check if it really really necessary

  9. The error message that comes up after a 'duplicate' email:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Adam's Home E-Mail account. The email server returned an error.

    Server Error: 0x800CCC90
    Server Response: -ERR inactivity timeout
    Server: 'mail.btinternet.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC90
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 110
    Secure(SSL): No

Sometimes the inability to get a response is tied to providing information that is not easily indicative of the problem for which
    you asked for help.

    Original post
    - Duplicate messages was the problem
    - Receive a new message it stops and moves on to the next one

What stops and moves on ????
Duplicate messages where ? In you Inbox ?? On your web server ?

    Second post
    -Only one account
    - imported from old WLM and copy and paste to them all in there

All in where ? Your Inbox ?
Where else did you paste messages ?

    Third post
    - reiterate that you pasted and couldn't import the account.

Importing an account doesn't import messages!

What type of email account (Pop3, IMAP ) ?
Only the latter syncs messages that still exist on the server.

    Fourth Post
    - Error message provided that states a timeout
    - Pop3 account

A timeout error is sent when the the account and server are not communicating.
    - which implies something is wrong with your account settings or the web server you are trying to access.

As noted above..Pop3 only pulls the latest messages from the web server.

Have you contacts BTInternet.com for help ?
Can you access your BTInternet account in your browser via their web site ?
Have you accessed the BTInternet web site for the correct settings

  11. Hi. When I meant it stops and moves on is until I receive a new message (or after about three duplicates) it stops, and sometimes moves on the duplicating the new message. This is all in WLM.

The duplicate messages all come through on WLM and NONE duplicate on my phone's email client. I copied and pasted the emails straight into the WLM inbox of the btopenworld account

I imported the accounts fine, but I tried to import the mail, i couldn;t do it for btopenworld even though my hotmail one worked fine. I tried several times and still nothing

    POP3

I haven't contacted BT themselves I tried looking for WLM mail help and I found this
