    Can anyone help with this?

I recently had a machine get mysteriously disjoined from AD. When I looked
for the server in AD I found two similar entries for the same server but one
of them had a string after the name which looked to contain a SID.

If I looked at properties of the object with the SID it looked to have the
same DNS name as the other server. When I looked at properties of the server
object everything was the same except for the “Computer mae (pre-Weindows
    2000) This displays “$DUPLICATE-dda†?

I am seeing more AD objects with duplicates. Has Any one come across
    anything like this before?

    Example:
Two objects Called Wins Users, one has a SID in the display name, see below:

This is because WINS was installed on two different DCs before they had a
chance to replicate. Therefore the built in conflict resolution has
appended a special character and the GUID to one. Basically, you can delete
    one of them.
