Hello, I'm hoping someone might be able to help me as I would like to
be able to play DVDs on this computer. The computer has a DVD decoder
installed (NVIDIA), but upon trying to play the DVD in Windows Media Player I
am only able to hear the audio of the DVD, not see the image. There is no
error message whatsoever, the DVD simply keeps playing without an image.

I do have the K-lite codec pack installed, if it has anything to do
with this issue (as I had the same issue playing other video files, .avi,
which this codec pack fixed), and did check that my DVD decoder was in
working order with the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility (it is).

Thank you in advance for any help anyone might be able to offer!

points to the Video Decoder Check-up Utility which would probably be of
    help.

But frankly, once you install a codec pack, you're pretty much on your own.
Codec packs are a really stupid idea for the most part. I'm sorry somebody
misled you into installing one. =|
