Hello Peeps,\n\nWe have an issue whereby we want external clients to register there VPN IP\naddresses in DNS. The VPN connections are handled by a RAS server which gets\nthe IP addresses from DHCP. There are two DHCP Servers;\n\nDC01 DHCP,DNS, Domain Controller\n\nServer01 DHCP,DNS, Domain Controller\n\nServer02 RAS\n\nBoth the servers are set to update A and PTR records for clients. In DNS\nhowever this doesn't seem to be the case. I then added DC01 to the\nDNSUpdateProxy and when i did this i saw my test laptop register its ip in\ndns. I then disconnected and reconnected and got a different IP address. the\nip address i got then was one which was already associated with an A record\nfor another computer but the lease for the IP had expired hence why it was\nassigned to me. With the DHCP servers there are no overlaps in the IP\naddress scopes. Do you think the A record for the other computer is stopping\nmy system from registering a DNS record?\n\nPlease note that there is no scavenging turned on at the server or the zone\nlevels.\n\nDavid.
