Electronic Program Guide broken

  1. My Windows Media Center EPG was working properly since I got my Sony
VAIO 2 1/2 years ago until yesterday. Now the guide is empty. When I try
to update the Guide I get the following message:
    Guide information update failed.
    Guide information could not be downloaded;
You need to set up yhour internet connection to work with Media
Select Set Up Internet Connection in Settings.

I then go to "Set Up Internet Connection" and choose connect to internet
and download and select Broadband or Lan and hit the Test button. I get
    the message: Cnnection is Working.

I then go to "Set Up Program Guide." I say that I want to use the Guide
and agree to the Terms of Service. I then enter the zip code and I get
    the following message:
    Status: Connecting to the Internet
    Download Incomplete
We were unable to loacte and Program Guide Information for the
    following raason.
Downlopad error. The download will be attempted later.

  2. I found out that the problem with the Program Guide is that I recently
replaced Norton Internet Security 2005 with Norton Internet Security
2006. When I turn off the personal fire wall I am able to update the
Program Guide manually. How can the Program Guide be updated
automatically without disabling the fire wall?

My Program Guide starts to download, pauses at various points (51%, 61%,
    etc.) and then completed once.

Now it fails consistently at 61% and the Media Center crashes when I try to
    resetup the TV stations.
