In internet explorer in xp, when I clicked on an email address it would open
up a new email message in my hotmail account. Now in Vista internet explorer,
it opens a new email message in windows mail instead, which is not able to
use my hotmail address. Is there a way to change this? I have tried but it
    does not seem possible.

    X-post to Vista.Mail newsgroup.

IE Tools > Internet Options > Programs > E-mail: If Hotmail or Windows Live
Mail is available here, select it as your default.

You cannot access your Hotmail account in Windows Mail. You can access your
Hotmail account in Windows Live Mail Desktop and make it your default Mail
    Client in Vista.

  3. This is even worse than the old Outlook vs. Outlook Express confusion.
    What was Microsoft thinking?

Ok i dont get what is happening here, for starters :
"http://get.live.com/" is the same page as
"http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas", it doesnt have anythig about
cool new betas, it has the 4 links down the left and a picture of a guy and a
windows icon with some other pictures around it, with no other links apart
from the "Terms of use, Privacy statement, Support" down the very bottom.

Also, the link "http://get.live.com/betas/home" gives me a page saying near
    the top

    "Welcome to Windows Live Betas

These are Windows Liveâ„¢ products that haven't been officially
released—that's what the "beta" part means. Please check them out (for free!)
and let us know what you think.

    Learn more about Windows Live."

And it has two link things underneath that I can click on, one saying:

    "Windows Live Hotmail Beta
It’s all-new Web mail, built from the ground up. Preview your e-mail without
loading a new page each time (like Outlook®), drag and drop messages into
folders, and generally power through your e-mail in a flash. Sleek and
    simple, with added security. "

    and the other saying:

    "Windows Live
    Family Safety Beta
Safer browsing, with rules you personalize."

There is also a few links down the right side under "Now Released", they are :

    windows live messenger
    windows live favourites
    windows live safety scanner
    windowslive.com
    windows live onecare
