Enlarge system partition (c:) on Windows 2003 Server

Discussion in 'Windows Server' started by Just Guessing, Dec 17, 2007.

  1. Is there a way to enlarge the system partition (c:) on Windows 2003 Server?
I have heard that typical repartitioning software isn't recommended on a
server. Has anyone ever done it? Or is there an acceptible way of doing it,
    short of reinstalling Windows? Thanks!

  2. Well, if you have extra space then you might check out diskpart and
    see if that will work.

no diskpart magic on the system partition.

take a verfied good backup of teh server, even an extra image of the disk
for safety and than use the free tool gparted live cd (google it and read
the manual) to extend the c partition

I have used the server edition of Paragon Partition Manager to expand system
partition on Win2003 servers without any problem.

I know this thread has exist for a long time, but I thinks there are still many people looking for a flexible way that could help re-sizing partition rather than use build in disk management, and Partition Magic is out of date, so there is a freeware AOMEI Partition Assistant Lite edition which could resize the partition smoothly
