I have 2 account define in Windows Live Desktop. An external mail account and
    my HOTMAIL account.

The external mail account work fine, but when desktop tries to access my
Hotmail account I am getting the following error:

to sign you in to Windows Live ID at this time. Please try again later.
    Server: '', Protocol:
HTTPMail, Port: 80, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x80048820, Error Number:

The HOTMAIL account works fine when accessed using the WEB access and my
Live Messenger works well as well.

Any idea what could be the problem ?

  4. Hi,

Has this problem been happening ever since you installed Messenger 8.1 or
did you see it in version 8.0? Have you tried removing the Hotmail account
from WLMD and then adding it again, verifying the password is correct? .

Wow. You're telling someone who was actually trying to get some useful information out there to "get a life". Hmmm, sounds like the pot calling the kettle black. This post got you're dander so up there that you actually took the time to log in and post a reply? Seriously???

Normally I don't bother to fully read let alone reply to such ignorant and hateful posts like this one, but I wanted to let Mr Bailey know that his post helped this "eggheaded moron". I have a laptop that I've shelved for almost two years since buying a new one. I recently encountered some issues with connecting to the internet with the new one and brought out this old one in the meantime, which proved to have some issues in syncing my email. Mr Bailey's post cleared up this problem for me since the date was obscenely off on the laptop. I hadn't come across this solution in my brief search, which included some MS forums, so hats off to you Mr Bailey, and thank you from one proud "eggheaded moron" to another :)

And Mr Hagen, instead of attempting to berate others remedial advice why not make some positive mark upon the world? All that pointless negativity helps no one, especially yourself. Good luck to you and your "life" which will hopefully soon be made up of more meaningful actions than making posts like these.

Please answer one question for me. Although this poster was attempting to
answer a question that I am sure was resolved sometime between its posting
and the three years that passed, why is it that 99% of questions that are
asked by EggHead Cafe users are started as replies to a thread they
hijacked. Does only 1% of EggHead users know how to start their own new
    thread? It really gets annoying.

You really don't get it, do you. I am guessing, because your MID$ identifies
you as one of those, "Eggheads":

    | Message-ID: <>

So here is the MID$ of the poster you are responding to:

As does he, I use "Eternal-September" as my news service. I configure my
news client (40tude Dialog) to access the server, and don't have to worry
about "Logging In". The news client handles that automatically (and some
news services don't even require a log in to read newsgroups!) I just fire
up my client and go to the subscribed groups. New articles are downloaded,
and, if I choose to reply, I just press my <F> key (for "follow-up"), and
Dialog pops up a compose window, with the OP properly quoted, and the cursor
    properly positioned for bottoms posting.

Using a proper NNTP (News) client with a proper NNTP (News) service is a
wholly different operation than using an HTTP client (web browser) to access
some forum. And the fact that the Egghead cafe (along with Google Groups)
provides an HTTP-to-NNTP service does not alter the fact that these groups
are part of the Usenet, and designed for clients using the NNTP protocol.

Get your head out of your ass and look around you; "The Web" is just a
subset of "The Internet"; there is more to this "Internet" thingy than HTTP
clients (web browsers) and HTML. And the Usenet has a different culture than
the newer web forums. You are like some brash American tourist in a remote
foreign culture; upset because they don't speak English, or serve lattés.

BTW, Bruce Hagen is anything but ignorant (unlike you Egghead "morons", who
have no comprehension of what you are doing).

Good gravy. Is a it a fine sport to look-up and respond to
three-year-old questions. Do ya think the OP has been checking each day
    for a response?

And you're no better Mr Scrooge... after all you responded to a
3-month-old post only to showcase your vindictive side and your ignorance.
