Remote site w/ xp workstation installing thrid dc in sbs
2003 domain, have dns as a secondary, DHCP on the
server, when I run dcpromo iget the following error:,

I've checked and done the following,

ipconfig /regidterdns "correcetd ip address in dns"
    service packed 4
joined to domain as member serv "durning first dcpromo
    attempt",

one thing I noticed is it secondary dns is not upto date
even when I transfer from master

The operation failed because: The Directory Service
failed to create the server object for CN=NTDS
    Settings,CN=QCI-DC-
    1,CN=Servers,CN=sbs,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=DOMAIN,DC
=local on server SBS.DOAMIN.local. Please ensure
the network credentials provided have sufficient access
to add a replica. "Access is denied. "

  2. The clue is in the error message. I have found that when DCPROMO asks for
the userid, password, and domain it can be fussy. When we did it, the
credentials box automatically showed domain.local whereupon the DCPROMO
crashed with errors you describe. Change the domain to the netbios DOMAIN
    and it worked!

Give that a go and see if you have better luck.
