Just started rolling out WSUS, and one of my XPSP2 clients says "Not Yet
    Reported", and reports the error:

"Error: Agent failed detecting with reason: 0xc80001fe"

I have tried stopping Automatic Updates and deleting the Catroot2 directory,
and the SoftwareDistribution folder. I have rebooted the machine numerous
    times. I have run the "rundll32 c:\windows\system32\muweb.dll,LaunchMUSite"
command and this ran just fine.

I ran the WSUS Client Diagnostics and everything came back as PASS. The
server address is correct in the registry on this PC as well. All my test
PCs so far are XPSP2, and they are all working except this one.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

    Thanks!

  2. Let's look at the WindowsUpdate.log for the most recent detection activity
    from this client.

Strangely, the client has finally straightened out on its own (or maybe due
to all the other things I deleted). I'll keep an eye on it and if the
problem recurs I'll post the log file.

    Thanks!

Well, after nearly a week only about 50% of my workstations have registered
in WSUS, and my own workstation keeps throwing errors, mostly:

Not sure what to do now. I've double-checked everything on WSUS and it all
seems to be OK, but obviously something is broken.

Any other ideas on what might be wrong, or am I going to have to uninstall
and reinstall WSUS and start from scratch?

    Thanks!

  5. Hi,

As many of your clients uses your WSUS server successfully, I would
think it will not help to reinstall WSUS, as this looks like a
local problem at your client computer.

Take a look at this troubleshooting article:

When searching for available updates on the Update site, you see
    the 0x80070002 error

I've done this already, many times :) No joy.

    Thanks!
