error code 0x800703FB when installing upate KB960714

    running XP...never had a problem with updates before. haven't done anything
    to the system (no repair with CD, etc.)

    That shouldn't be that big...


    My guess would be that the registry has been corrupted somehow,
    e.g. perhaps by use of a so-called registry cleaner.

    You could try cloning the user profile...
