My goodness. I thought I had a problem! Looks like quite many are also facing
this issue of the error encountered when updating some of the Office 2003
files. Same files as everyone. Microsoft replied to me and suggested a few

    Here's the outcome:

I tried the first one...downloading a file known as Listool and then running
it. In the end it shew me another error code 0x80070002 and asked me to
    contact Microsoft Office.

2nd alternative is to download the file manually and then install them one
by one. I checked and realised that actually the files were already
downloaded but just could not get it installed. I did not do this as I don't
    see this as the issue.

3rd alternative is to do a Windows Installer Cleanup Utility - this is when
I read all the threads and the issues relating to it. However, I would like
to know if you people ran the "regedit" and delete the 2 registry keys:

and then delete the directory or folder Microsoft Office, restart the
    computer and reinstall Office.

If you guys have done the above, I'm not going to try it as I don't want to
get stuck. I'd rather leave the updates alone and let it stay there if it
does not interfere with my work! Let me know if anyone has overcome this!!!
