I am running OS Vista home premium, Office 2007 and Norton 360. On Oct. 16th
I received 14 important security updates. They all failed to install
initially. A day later all but six installed. A day or two later all
installed except KB973636 an important security update for Works 8. Works
came with my computer, I don't use it, but if I do in the future I don't want
to worry about a virus etc. I agreed to the EUL & registered Works, but
still can't install the update. It seems everyone is having problems
installing updates this past week. I have tried some of the suggestions
given in this discussion forum but so far no suggest. Any suggestions?

Manually download the update and *save* it:

Security Update for Microsoft Works 8 (KB973636)

Then follow the instructions on the above page.
If fails to install, the suggest you clean boot XP and then try to
    install KB973636 once more:

Depending upon your level of competence with PCs, either use the Guided
Help (for beginners) or, use Method 2(for intermediate/advanced Users).

If it still fails to install, strongly suggest you contact Microsoft as
