I am trying to copy some photos off the hard drive onto an SD card. I have
managed to copy dozens already but now get the error code "80070052 - the
directory or file cannot be created". I still have 906MB of free space on a 1
gig card, so it cannot be lack of free space. Please help!

I had this same problem and solved it as follows:

Reformat the SD Card - this will delete all content.
Then Make a new Folder and copy ALL photos into this folder.

I was experiencing exactly the same problem as you and found there seems to
be a limit on the number of "items" that can be saved onto the card,
regardless of how much memory is available - the folder only counts as one
item, no matter how many photos are copied in to it.

I have filled a 1GB card for use on a digital photo frame with no problem at
all, since I started copying them into the single folder.

    I hope this helps

The problem everyone is having is simple: The "Root" directory can onl
hold a set number of files. (this goes back to the DOS operaterin
System) Once the root directory is full then create another director
and copy the rest of your pictures into this directory

Note: if you are using the SD card in a photo frame then the picture
in the root directory will be shown first then the pictures in othe
