Hey Johnathan, I tried to uninstal WLM but it didn't have an option to
uninstall it so i deleted things in my computer and tried to use Revo
Uninstaller and I decided to not get an older version and keep this one. When
I reinstalled the newest messenger I get the error code 8007007e and I tried
those links and the last 2 say "A network error occurred while attempting to
read from the file: C:\Documents and Settings\Student\Local
    Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\TRZBCVKL.Contacts.msi" and "A
network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: C:\Documents
    and Settings\Student\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
    Files\Content.IE5\TRZBCVKL.crt.msi"

    Hi, Jonathan

I am having the same problem (error code: 8007007e). When I try downloading
your links, every link leads me to this file called "wmu.exe" (file size:
13kb) which has a trojan horse spambot in it (Trojan Horse Spambot.W -
detected by AVG 8.5.409). Why is this, and what to do?

    Please advise, thanks!

Nevermind. I figured it might have something to do with the Nvidia firewall
even though it was off, so I uninstalled the Nvidia Network Access Manager
and... VOILA! No more errors! :D Hope this can be a solution for some of
    you.. :)

    hey ,
if trying out all dis still doesnt help Windows Live Messenger to open
    up..den do the following:

    1—-C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Contacts
    2—right clcik properties of wlcomm.exe
    3—click compatibility
    4— Run on windows 95
    5— tick disable visual effects
    6— clcik OK

7—> and presto your problem is solved

& if still the problem persists

    1- Locate a file names â€wldlog.dll†in C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Contacts
2- Cut the file & paste it to My Documents only in the midst of singning in
    the Messenger.

I kinda had the same problem with the last 2, what did is:

instead of Running them directly from the link, i downloaded them to the
desktop, and then runned them from there.

That was it for me...hope it does it for you.
