I have been trying to download and install the Windows Updates. I've read
through all of the other threads and they have not helped. I keep getting a
message saying that some updates failed to install... and get error code
80200053. If you can help, I would appreciate it... oh, and please keep it
simple... I am not up to speed on all of the technical computer language.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Please advise what operating system (ie Vista of XP) including the Service
    Pack Level.

Are there any further clues regarding the failed updates in the
    windowsupdate.log?

Click Start, select Run and type: winowsudpate.log

Copy and paste the update error codes etc into this thread and hopefully
someone may be able to assist further.

If you're running Vista (from memory) just type run in the search box at the
bottom of the menu and then select that, then type windowsupdate.log (sorry
    using XP at the moment).

brand new acer laptop, automatic ms updates, defender showed exclamation
mark and pop up saying avg off, tried downloading defender update.... ha. no
way, went on internet to find how to sort out, told to validate vista, ok, it
is genuine, rebooted, tried to download update.....ha! ha! ha... no way, I
will try again and if I dont get it then it will be goodbye ms Hello Linux, I
am so tired of constant problems like this with ms operating systems, I am
also fed up with having to replace hardware everytime a new os comes out of
redmond because of a failure to provide compatability for not so old
printers, scanners etc, oh yes I have tried windows 7, not one of my
applications would work correctly, I binned it the same day as I installed
it, That was on a brand new 500gb sata 2 hard drive in a potent quad core
machine..... that hard drive now has ubuntu on it! All I want is a machine I
can use without having to spend hours sorting it out and I think Bill Gates
has had enough of my money

  4. To avoid confusion, please begin a new thread about your specific problems.
State your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Vista SP2)
    in your first post.
