Would someone tell Chris Lanier that his post does not
answer the question. If this many of us are getting this
error, someone must know what it is.

It seems to be related to DRM protected files. I can burn
unprotected files, but not files downloaded from MusicMatch

    If you look at-
    http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html#0xc00d11cd
, the first paragraph there is CRITICAL information for you.

The statement "many of us are getting this error" doesn't actually matter,
because no two instances of this problem are typically the same, so *you*
have to provide actual information if *anybody* else is going to be able to
    help you. :-|

That being said, WMP's burner is a free toy. If you're having troubles
burning protected files, try the Roxio burner, which I believe supports DRM
*and* actually has solid error handling for burning. WMP's burner isn't
built by Microsoft, and it shows, IMHO. :)

  3. Well I don't think any of this is Chris's fault, and the program is free, but "BBB" is completely right...I have seen so many of the SAME issues....music that has legally been purchased will not burn with WMP9. bottom line. I've seen a ton of them and have even posted my own complaint. I've contacted napster a zillion times and still I have recieved no help. I definately thank everybody for their advice, but nothings working, and microsoft and napster (or any other company selling MP3's) should see that they are not compatable because a ton of people have similar complaints on this message board. Therfor- they should not advertize each other. (I was told BY NAPSTER that I need to use WMP) Unless of course- it is just a WMP 9 issue- because most people are mentioning that they didn't have a problem with version 8 (including myself).

It is a shame that most people are actually being good citizens and buying their music now, but now they have to go through all this nonsence. I also think that the makers of WMP9 should be embarrased that MVP's have to suggest a roxio program instead of theirs.

Thanks for the advice Zack, I'll be sure to use another program.

  4. Hi, Just a comment to the last part of the post...
have to suggest a roxio program instead of theirs.

Microsoft doesn't make the plug-in to allow WMP to burn CD's. They license
it from Roxio. Roxio needs to put more work into the plug-in, in addition
to providing some basic support for it. (It's MS job now, b/c it's in there
product) Their Easy CD Creator seems to work, why doesn't the WMP plug-in?
We would like to know too. :)

Btw, Zach is one of the "makers of WMP9". :)

  5. Thank you chris- but I would still like to know why music that has legally been purchased will not burn with WMP9. I do not intend to insult anybody, but this is a problem. If you search "napster" within this message board you will find a ton of complaints. If anyone ever figures out how to fix this, email me (.) Until then-I guess I'm going to look into another program, as well as suggest everyone else do the same.

  6. We would really like to know that too! I take it upon myself to insult
Roxio. I know they have the time and money needed to make the plug-in
    better. :)

To burn DRM'ed WMA's I would highly suggest Easy CD Creator. Again, it's
the same company who makes the burner for WMP, but it seems to work much,
much better. :) I'm not sure what other software supports burning DRM'ed
    files.
