Error creating domain DFS roots

Discussion in 'Windows Server' started by Chreag Anderson, Mar 6, 2006.

  1. Hello
    We have a problem creating domain DFS roots which we can't resolve.
    We have AD running on two or our Win 2003 servers. We can create stand alone
    DFS roots which work fine, but would like to have the DFS integrated with AD.
    When we try to create a domain root, at the final stage of the process it
    comes back with the error;
    "The following error occured when creating DFS root on server xxx-xxx;
    The specific domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."
    The domain obviously exists as we have 200 users logging in to it every day!
    DNS is running on one of the servers with AD on it, and an nslookup of the
    domain name returns the IP address of the first server that has the DNS and
    AD on it.
    Does anyone know why we can't create domain DFS roots and/or how to go about
    sorting this?
    Thanks
