Error No. 0x80070052

When I go to Windows Update page, I get "Windows Update
Error.....Send Error No. 0x80070052". I have tried both
of the suggested solutions in the trouble-shooter, but no
success. When I click on the "No" button for "Did this
help?" selection, I get a file (of 0 bytes!) to download
or save, but it doesn't appear to do anything.
If anyone can help, I would be very grateful.

I am using Windows XP. How do I "post" the log file from
C:\windows?

I should have specified it is the "Home" version of
Windows XP.

Hi Bob,

I'm not sure what news reader application you're using. Reply to this post,
select "Attach" or "Attachment" and browse to the Windows Update.log file.
If not open the log file and copy and paste the log file information.

Per log file, is the last time you accessed the site 8/13? I don't see
error 0x80070052

Please verify the WindowsUpdate folder exists and is accessible from the
C:\program files directory

C:\program files\WindowsUpdate

Note: the WindowsUpdatefolder is a hidden folder you may need to unhide it.


Tools > Folder Options
Select View Tab
Under "Hidden Files and Folders"
Select "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
Click Apply and then OK
